What is the difference between LED plant growth lamp and ordinary LED lamp? Why is plant growth supplemented by LED plant lights instead of ordinary LED lights?

LED(Light Emitting Diode) uses solid semiconductor chip crop luminous materials, when the two ends of the positive voltage, the carrier fluid in the semiconductor compound, release excess energy and cause photon emission to produce visible light. Advantages: high efficiency, pure light color, low energy consumption, long life, safety and environmental protection, long time lamp body surface low heat, good heat dissipation. Disadvantages of weak brightness and high cost.

Ordinary LED lights can only be used for lighting, or commercial lighting; LED plant lamp provides a reasonable light environment for plants, promotes the growth and development of plants, and has certain requirements for light quality and light intensity. Plant lamp is expensive because plant lamp requires high requirements but can bring benefits.

Ordinary LED lights emit white light, but not necessarily the spectrum plants need to grow. Plants need to absorb a different spectrum of light for photosynthesis than the light we use for everyday lighting. Different wavelengths of light have different effects on plants:

Ultraviolet radiation with wavelengths less than 280nm can kill plants immediately;


Ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 280-320nm is harmful to most plants;


The wavelength of 320-400nm is mainly ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet radiation plays a role in shaping and coloring, such as making plants shorter, darker and thicker;


The wavelength of 400-510m is mainly blue-violet light, which is strongly absorbed by chlorophyll and melanin, showing strong photosynthesis;


The wavelength of 510 ~ 610nm is mainly green light, and the absorption rate of pigment is not high;


Red and orange light with wavelengths ranging from 610 nm to 720nm can be strongly absorbed by chlorophyll, showing strong photoperiodic effect in some cases;


The radiation with a wavelength of 720-1000nm only plays a role in plant elongation, of which the radiation with a wavelength of 720-800nm is called far-infrared light, which plays an important role in photoperiod and seed formation, and controls the color of flowering and fruit.

According to the above data, the wavelength of light required for plant photosynthesis is around 400-720nm,400-510(blue light) and 610-720nm(red light) contribute the most to photosynthesis, and 510-610nm(green light) has a very low absorption rate of plant chromophytes.
